the Cicada invasion
has begun
in Northern Virginia

billions of them
flying about
making an out-of-this world

alien Sci-Fi like racket
loud enough to wake
the dead from their slumbers

looking for a mate
to keep the species alive
as soon as they mate
they die

what a fate
they have
