So Dark
Dark, so dark the curtain falls,
the nighttime sky as thick as ink.
Such murky air, it sightless calls
to heed a warning, "Foul Place stinks!"
The ghoulish month of evil plays
to think the thoughts of devil toads.
So dark the fears insanely strays
into all minds on one broad road.
Dark, so dark all light not seen,
but putrid scents of Earth's worst smells
from Hell's unending dank latrine
chokes tearless cries, none hear the tells.
Forever falls the bottomless pit.
Forever seeking friendship's hope.
Fore'er alone, but none can quit
the search for safety as they grope.
Dark, so dark, alone with screams.
No hands to comfort; worms, that bite.
Alone with mem'ries, minds they ream.
Awful sounds, but never sight.
The Summons none of these have heard.
Such humor t'ward the preacher's call.
No peace from everlasting Word,
that torments throughout Hell's dark hall.
As Dante wrote through poem, long,
"Abandon hope all ye, who enter."
No more of mirth or sweetest song,
no wise man found your heart to mentor.
Abandon now all Hellish fun,
but seek The One, Who paid the price.
Salvation's now, 'fore life is done
in just One Lord, this Jesus Christ.
