That Woman

She would've been the death of me.
Now I see skies of glorious blue,
Filled with sunlight so true.
No longer bound to a rotten tree:
She would've been the death of me.

Her bitterness hasn't changed at all—
Now she wants me back so I can fall.
But I refuse because I am free—
She would've been the death of me.

A lady more beautiful and kind
I pray to the Lord I will find.
In the meantime, my blindness can see:
She would've been the death of me.

Here are the guidelines for writing the dansa:

Opening quintain (or 5-line stanza) followed by quatrains (or 4-line stanzas)
The opening line of the first stanza is the final line of every stanza, including the first
Rhyme scheme in the opening stanza: AbbaA (capital A represents the refrain)
Rhyme scheme in all other stanzas: bbaA
No other rules for subject, length, or meter.
