There is a lot within me Other Than Scriptwriting. This blog is devoted to those stories. |
It Has Finally Been Posted At about two o’clock and nine minutes AM WDC time, the new prompt for this month was posted. I checked on this about two fifteen, and it said it had been up there for about six minutes. I admittedly started a new document with this prompt. Almost instantly, I had a Short Story to go along with the prompt. No, I didn’t remember it. This isn’t a Science Fiction Short Story. It’s about a family of four, including a father, a mother, and their two kids, a girl who is thirteen, and a boy who is eleven. They are on vacation in a foreign country, and they are having problems getting to their next destination. Usually, I start my short stories with a three or four-paragraph synopsis about the Short Story I’m about to write. I didn’t do that this time. After I set up the title for this Short Story, I wrote the first dialog for this Short Story that includes this month’s prompt. It wasn’t the first piece of dialog for this Short Story, though. After I wrote this first dialog, it kind of got out of my control. I started writing dialog connected to that first one, and it skyrocketed into about ten dialog pieces. Most of them were between Harold and his daughter Vivian, but Tracy and her son Gregory had one or two pieces of dialog. I did that before I went to sleep last night. When I got up this morning, I started writing this Short Story. Before I started writing these ten pieces of dialog, I wrote about five hundred words of Action to go along with the dialog I wrote before these ten pieces. Of course, these ten pieces were just dialog. They also had some action descriptions. All in total, I wrote about half of this Short Story within the last twenty-four hours. Unfortunately, that’s all I accomplished today. It could have been more, but I only had about four hours to work on this Short Story today. No, it wasn’t because of what my brother and I had to do today. My brother and I did need to do a few things today, but that came after the Tornado Warning that came out for our area. We didn’t have any Tornado problems, but we did need to take shelter just in case we did have any problems. Unfortunately, it took us almost two hours to live through that possibility. Two hours that I could have devoted to my writing. Will I get the other half of this Short Story finished tomorrow? I hope that I do, but I probably won’t. It will probably be Thursday before I get this finished, if I’m lucky. After what happened in the last twenty-four hours, I could get it done tomorrow, but I won’t count on it until it happens. |
