A blog devoted just to my scriptwriting. That’s all I’m going to blogging about here. |
One Hundred for Episode One I only had about five hours today to work on my DeathBringers scriptwriting project, and I got one hundred sentences written for my Episode One Scene Outline. That’s about twenty every hour or about one every three minutes. One sentence every three minutes doesn’t read very well, and it isn’t, but that’s all I accomplished today. Why didn’t I get more sentences written today? It’s because I had a lot of trouble writing these sentences. I knew what I wanted to write, but I wasn’t sure how to write it. How come I had trouble writing them? There are a couple of reasons why I had so much trouble writing them. One reason is the length of the sentence. There are only sixty characters for each sentence, and I had a lot of problems keeping a lot of these sentences under sixty characters. I had to do a lot of rewriting to get these sentences under sixty characters. That’s not all, though. Another reason why I didn’t get more written today was because of my second word in each sentence. Like starting a sentence or paragraph with the same word, I also don’t like my second word in a sentence or paragraph to be the same word. Whether it’s a sentence or a paragraph, I like there to be at least two words separating the same word in my sentences and paragraphs. That’s not a problem with my character names starting a sentence or paragraph. It’s the second word in these sentences and paragraphs that can be a problem. Sometimes it’s a little problem, and sometimes it’s a big problem. The little problems aren’t too hard to fix. It’s the big problems that I can have some problems fixing. My verbs are my biggest problem. Sometimes I can delete them, and sometimes I can’t. What do I mean by ‘Sometimes I can delete them?’ A good example of that is ‘I start’ instead of ‘I am starting.’ Usually, I can delete the verbs, but not always. When I can delete the verbs, I have to be a little bit more progressive in my writing of sentences and paragraphs. Today, my progression problem is what I had the most problem with. Sometimes, I do have sentences and paragraphs that start with the same word, especially with these blog entries. I have had several blog entries that start with the same word, paragraph after paragraph. It can happen with my sentences, but as far as I know, this has never happened with the second word of these paragraphs and sentences. Hopefully, I can keep doing it this way. Like everything else in my writing life, I will probably have to give up this style of writing because no one else thinks and writes like I do. When it comes to my Science Fiction writing, I have done a lot of compromising in my short stories, novels, scriptwriting, etc. Hopefully, it will be a long time before I need to compromise this writing style. |
