50 STB - Flying High Again - North Cackalacky

Winter Wonderin' Wanderin' needed a break from driving the Party Bus because the 64 oz Big Gulps at 7-11 wasn’t quite cutting it anymore. Witchy Woman took over the driving duties and Winter Wonderin' Wanderin' passed out cold in the back. While Winter Wonderin' Wanderin' was sleeping, we stopped by 7-11, gas’d up, filled up her Big Gulp and Oh Come, all Ye Jellyfish 🔔 stocked up on hummus and chips.

When we got to North Carolina I shared a story about how when I would play Monopoly with my family when I was younger they would always call North Carolina North Cackalacky. The history of this informal nickname is all over the map, but I think it started way back in the 1930's and it was popularized by soliders stationed at Fort Bragg in the 1960's.

The Wright Brother Museum was run by the National Park service. Witchy Woman pulled right in after paying and we went inside.

There was a lot to learn. Me, Elf Princess Megan Snow Rose and AmyJo-Where did 2025 go??? took our time reading about the Wright Brothers. Heck it took them 4 years working on the plane before it took flight! We even hugged the plane. Ded Moroz and WakeUpAndLive~snowflake wonder enjoyed the outside walking tour and we got to see the area where they made the first flight. ❄️ Krista 🎄 took lots of pictures for her Instagram. Witchy Woman and Winter Wonderin' Wanderin' bought a ton of postcards and magnets from the gift shop.



Witchy Woman took us to a Diner where the vegan options where limited for lunch. I had the Triple G and wasn’t hungry for 24 hours! I was proud of ❄️ Krista 🎄 who tried it but couldn’t finish it because it was that big!

All the stuff about flying made me think of Ozzy Osbourne and his song "Flying High Again," so we jammed to Ozzy songs on the way to the Aquarium.



At the aquarium, Oh Come, all Ye Jellyfish 🔔 loved hanging out with the Jellies! Witchy Woman and petted the stingray. Ded Moroz bought a stuffed otter for his wife. Elf Princess Megan Snow Rose scored a rare find – a Kate Spade purse with dolphins on it!

Afterwards we checked out a couple of lighthouses in the area. I love lighthouses! I bought a couple of posters so I could hang them up in my house. Witchy Woman bought some posters, too.

I went to try the Vegan place with Oh Come, all Ye Jellyfish 🔔 and Ded Moroz and had a huge fruit & veggie salad. In the evening we enjoyed WakeUpAndLive~snowflake wonder coffee and some tea. After a good night’s sleep, Winter Wonderin' Wanderin' was ready to drive the Party Bus again!
