| Back when I was stationed at the Seneca Army Depot in the late 1980’s, I used to visit friends in Williamsport. It was about an hour to hour and half drive south, but what I loved about the drive and Pennsylvania was the rugged outdoors. The trees were tall and vibrant, There were a lot of lakes, rivers, and hills. The air in the area always smelled like fresh cut grass. Pennsylvania is a very dynamic state. Welp, the Party Bus drove to Mill Run and FallingWater. Maid of the Mist Most Macabre stopped in Pittsburgh to gas up and refill her 64 oz Big Gulp. I dunno how she finds the 7-11’s but she does. I suspect Reluctant Halloweenist has an app on his phone that finds 7-11s. The FallingWater house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, an American architect in the early 1900’s. He had a modern day outlook on design and called his way of designing organic architecture. At FallingWater, the house was designed around a waterfall with flat terraces and open views. The windows allow for a lot of sunlight and the surrounding woods make the soul smile. There’s always something about water that I find refreshing so me, Morticia Wednesday Megan Rose , and WakeUpAndLive~gummy worms BOO stick our hands in the waterfalls. Morticia Wednesday Megan Rose laughs. Spooky Kooky Krista took a funny picture of us laughing and smiling. Actually, it came out pretty good. A Warped Witch I Be and Maid of the Mist Most Macabre waved at us tickling the waterfall from an above terrace. Reluctant Halloweenist wanted to go hiking but we ran out of time. Soon we were off to the Duquesne incline back in Pittsburgh. After all the height inclined challenges we’ve done (Colorado being the one where I really wanted to pee the pants, but Ohio was a close 2nd) I was ready to ride. It was built in 1877 and goes about 400 feet up a steep incline but with a gorgeous view of the rivers and the bridge. Honestly, the view was to die for. There were lots of trees and grass and it captured the essence of Pennsylvania – a mix of rugged nature and working class cities. AmyJo-Zombie hours made a video of the ride and uploaded to her YouTube channel. Afterwards we took the Party Bus over to Longwood Garden. What really impressed me was how it reminded of Versailles – very spread out and majestic with vibrant green grass and marble fountains. Giant Phantom Jelly and WakeUpAndLive~gummy worms BOO loved the fountains and the Versailles area. I found the Bonzai area and chilled out with AmyJo-Zombie hours Spooky Kooky Krista and A Warped Witch I Be . Reluctant Halloweenist , Maid of the Mist Most Macabre and Morticia Wednesday Megan Rose enjoyed the water lily court. Honestly, I was pooped, but Reluctant Halloweenist took us to this place that made cheesesteak pierogi. They even had vegan potato pierogi for Giant Phantom Jelly . I decided to pass out at our Air BnB while everyone else went bar hopping. If you ask me, Pennsylvania has a little bit of everything for everyone. |
