This is my daughter's sixth birthday party.” A baking cake smelled wonderful. Children's laughter echoed from the kitchen, stirring faded memories. She smiled hesitantly. “May I join?” By the end, Barbara's silk dress was splattered with glitter and cake. Her hat now belonged to the overjoyed birthday girl.
