Cake
Prompts day 5: Story to feature a cake.

It was the climax of her career: the best wedding cake she'd ever made. She labored over it for weeks: planning, gathering supplies, considering endless different ideas and tossing them aside as inadequate.

“I wish you'd let someone else handle this one, honey,” her fiance said. “You're stressing yourself out needlessly.”

“Never!”

When the big day came, she was ready, her white dress sparkling in the sun. Her eyes glimmered. The ceremonies proceeded smoothly. Then, the moment she'd been waiting for: slicing the cake. Her cake. Nobody else's would've been adequate.

Her career’s climax tasted as perfect as it looked.

Words: 100.
