Devil Dog?

Sam Adams and his sister
Did not always get along
He gave her his dog
When the landlord said
Either the dog goes, or you go
His sister initially thought
The dog was a devil dog!
But grew to love him.

One day

And realized

Joe Lewis was a farmer
Deep in the Appalachian
mountain holes
His mule was a stubborn
lazy, old fool
Joe decided to motivate him
Hitting him over the head
with a 2 by 4!
