The Call To Adventure

30 year old Nolan was pulled through a time rift and ends up trapped 5 years in the past. His older counterpart who has spent those five years living in the past approaches Natty Gaines, the new wife of his younger counterpart. He explains that all of this time, he wasn’t Nolan’s cousin, he was his older counterpart. Now that his younger self had gone back in time, they can live their lives together.

Two weeks later, while his wife is in Hawaii with her family, Nolan is arrested for killing his cousin. His arch enemy Glenn Tana thinks he killed the version of Nolan who was 5 years younger than him. He doesn’t realize that the younger version and the older version of Nolan are the same person. Nolan is now in jail. He has a transponder to contact the military officer from the future who conducted the time traveler experiment, but it is at his apartment.

In the courtroom, he tells his story. When he 30 and was pulled back in time, he traveled to Downey, California, and approached his 25 year old counterpart at the gym his younger self trained at.

He told his 25 year old self that he will have to move in with him until the day arrives when his younger counterpart will get pulled through the time rift. Until then, they must live together and the older counterpart must pass himself off as the cousin of his younger self.

Refusal Of The Call

The younger version of Nolan refuses to accept the responsibility. At first, he thinks it is a hoax and that he is on a hidden camera show. His older counterpart shows him his identification card, that has an expiration date from much farther in the future than his current ID.

Acceptance Of The Call/Supernatural Aid

Major Terry Grant arrives from the distant future and gives younger Nolan a transponder to contact him in an emergency. Older Nolan still has the transponder given to him when he was younger. He tells him not to use time travel for monetary gain.

Major Grant takes older Nolan into the future briefly, then returns him. Older Nolan doesn’t tell his younger self what happened in the future.


Natalie “Natty” Gaines sees the two of them exiting the gym just as she’s about to go in. She introduces herself and asks younger Nolan who this other person is. After introducing himself as Deuce, she goes into the gym.

Deuce explains that he will help the younger Nolan marry Natty, and it was during their honeymoon that he got pulled through the time rift.

Crossing of the first threshold

Deuce moves in with Nolan, and takes the spare bedroom. He explains to Nolan that they will have to pass him off as Nolan’s cousin until the younger Nolan goes through the time rift.


Entering the belly of the whale

Back in the courtroom, Nolan’s public defender doesn’t believe anything he is saying about his time travel experience. Nolan is forced to get a real lawyer.

Road of trials

Nolan explains his experience to the court, as a jury is put together. The prosecutor doesn’t believe him, and wants to know what Nolan did with Nolan’s body. Nolan insists that he and Nolan are the same person, and continues his testimony.

Deuce explains how Glenn and his buddies picked fights with him when he was at the gym. They don’t like fat people, and Nolan was extremely obese.

Deuce explained to Nolan about walking for an hour before breakfast each day, and forced him to go to bed early and wake up earlier. As time goes by, Nolan started to lose weight.

The meeting with the goddess

Nolan meets a female attorney who is supposed to be the best in the county. Her name is Violet Hayes. She has Nolan tell his story as she records everything he says. He uses broad strokes to describe how his younger counterpart lost weight over a period of 6 months, thanks to the advice of his older self. He also trained better. His older self got a degree in personal training and nutrition from an online course, and got a job at the gym where younger Nolan trained.

Woman as temptress

Dianna Ball is a woman who works at the gym where Nolan trains and Deuce works as a personal trainer. She hates fat people and doesn’t like Nolan, but likes Deuce. She constantly throws hints that Deuce should take her out.

Atonement with the father

Nolan’s uncle Roland wants to know who is living with Nolan. At first, he thinks Nolan and Deuce are in a homosexual relationship. His cousin Kiernan figures out that they are both the same person. This is a relief to Nolan’s uncle, who is a staunch Christian who is against homosexuality. Nolan’s family is now aware that the tow if them are the same person, but everyone else they know isn’t in on the secret.

Apotheosis

After about another year, younger Nolan looks almost as good as his older counterpart did when he first arrived in the past. His enemies at the gym stop disrespecting him, and Natty is proud of him. She always like Nolan, even when he was fat, but she can brag about him now that he looks lean and muscular.

The ultimate boon

His lawyer is successful in contacting Natty in Hawaii, and she flies back and retrieves the transponder and contacts Major Terry Grant. He arrives and is able to prove that Nolan is telling the truth, because he jetted back in time and retrieved younger Nolan just after he passed through the time rift.

When the judge and prosecutor see that Major Grant is really from the future, they decide that Nolan is not guilty.

Refusal of the return

Younger Nolan wants to remain in the future time with his older self and Natty. He takes off from the courthouse and takes a bus back to Downey.

Magic flight

Younger Nolan arrives at the gym where he trained and reveals to everyone that there were two of them this whole times. The other characters are astounded, but Glenn isn’t surprised. Glenn and his buddies surround younger Nolan and threaten to beat him up.

Rescue from without

Major Terry Grant arrives and uses a weapon to shock. The adversaries, forcing them to run off. Younger Nolan is rescued and taken back into the past.

Crossing of the return threshold

After Terry Grant leaves, older Nolan is at home alone with his wife Natty. G,ent walks in and shuts the door behind him, asking for one last fight. Nolan proceeds to knock Glenn out.

Master of the two worlds

Glenn leaves, knowing he is beaten. Nolan is taller and much more muscular than him.

Freedom to live

Nolan is approached by a movie producer who wants to turn his life story into a film!
