Making a fool of myself

I don't like making a fool of myself. May be because I always thought folks were laughing at me and not with me.

Yes, laughter is good for the lungs and soul.

I just fail to be amused most times.

In high school I once knocked someone off a desk. Didn't mean to. I just didn't want to participate was all. After that I gained some respect. And I punched one guy out after my books were missing out of my locker. Turns out I hit the wrong guy; but, the books showed up. Wasn't funny no matter how much folks laughed.

A couple years ago I took on an alley drunk that was much taller and bigger. He'd been making snide remarks and I had had it! Verbally ripped him apart from one end to the other. People were shocked that I'd go off. Shook for hours, but I stayed; he left. Wasn't funny for either of us.

No, I don't go along to get along and I don't do laughter well either. I know it's good for the lungs. And I know they are not always laughing at me. But my soul doesn't know how to join in.
