A blog of no uncertain musings. What goes on in my mind is often a source of wonder to me.

Writer's Conference
Recently I attended a Master Writer's Class Workshop in Boise, ID, hosted by the Popular Fiction Association of Idaho.  Yeah, I know--me, a Master Writer.  *Bigsmile*  To be honest, I went on the recommendation of a dear friend, a friend I had the opportunity to meet while there.  It was the first time I ever did something just for myself.  And I'm glad I did.

I love to write.  I primarily write romance and erotica short stories.  If you check out my Port, you'll find many other styles, including personal essays, life stories, and fiction of all sorts.  I even have a novel well underway (courtesy of NaNoWriMo).  Am I a master writer? Nope, not by a longshot.  But the information I gained from attending this 2-day workshop was invaluable.  Thank you, Shannon, for recommending this conference; it was wonderful.

I will be writing a short summary of my experience at the conference of some of the techniques and tips I learned.  But first, as I am self-employed, I must catch up on work first.  *Sad*  It's hard with all the things buzzing around in my head wanting to splatter onto a blank sheet of paper.  But, all in good time.

I mentioned meeting Shannon Author Icon.  Shannon is a wonderful and gracious lady--the first real person from WDC that I've had the pleasure to meet.  She took time to show me some of Boise, and a very beautiful city it is.  And no, my friends--I left Boise with her honor in tact. *Cool*   Shannon remains a writer of who's talent I'm in awe, a source of inspiration to and encouragment for me, and my best friend and mentor on WDC.  Someday, perhaps, I shall be fortunate enough to meet some of you.

For those who've considered attending a writer's conference, don't put it off.  If you're serious about improving your craft, whether you want to be published or not, seek out such opportunities.  I don't regret this for a moment.  Neither will you.
