Prompt: "It is a night when people place lighted candles in their home. If candles day be fair and bright, winter will have another flight but if it be dark with clouds and rain, winter is gone and will not come again." The Countess of Highclere Castle, Downton Abbey

Winter has been brutal. I don't know if candles would make a difference. Louisiana and Texas are getting snow. It has been so cold.

Rain and dark clouds doesn't make for good weather, either.

I am not a fan of candles. They smell pretty and light up a room. Maybe they make winter seem brighter. Candles invite others in and welcome warmer weather.

Winter. It can leave anytime. We turn on fireplaces and stay warm. Make hot chocolate. Cook a warm meal. Maybe if you have a horse and sleigh, go for a ride. Build a snowman. Light a candle or two. We let winter take its course. It won't last forever.
