July 22, 2015 I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done. I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them. I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC. |

Generally, we have autumn colors in October and bare trees by the end of October. Many of the trees are bare here already. When we grocery shopped last week, I noticed South of us by 25 miles there are 3 parts to the forests. Green, fall colors, and bare trees. My question, what does this mean for winter? Roy T. Bennett had a good thought here. In the atmosphere being pushed in the USA, someone is trying to usher the public into thinking of violence. Our parents and grandparents did not want to join the war, which was deepening into WWII. Eventually, the country did join the war. Somewhere between 416 and 418 thousand deaths were attributed to that war. What we don't see is the way loss of family members to any kind of war affects relationships and living conditions of families. At another time in this country, I read an article that said, the people in the USA were too complacent. Not enough people were voting; not enough people were willing to speak up about different problems that were facing the country. There were people who suggested our willingness to remain peaceful was a sign the country was in error, and of course suggestions were made on how to wake up the public. It was at this time when I discovered in historical readings, that making a martyr of someone could start a war. What I really think is when people do not want war, when people are happily living in a peaceful way, it shows that their political system works. Organization, laws that meet the needs of the people, systems of help, when a family is in need. Those are the proper way to treat a large public. If you look at the school shootings, you find people who did not get help when it was needed. Sometimes people were unaware that the shooters needed help. The violence did not work either; it just made more problems for someone in their everyday life. What I see now is a few people making a loud noise about starting wars, the majority of populations in many different countries don't want. I did say majorities. People do things they should not do. It is the way we approach the solution to problems that make life livable. |

Remember me I'm the one who pops up every once in a while. Yes. I have watched 60 Minutes many times. I like the in-depth coverage of each subject they review. I don't have a specific journalist, that I can say I enjoy more, than any other. I enjoy their person-to-person interviews. It is a good way to see how people are reacting to the coverage of the story in progress. As a news program 60 Minutes coverage often expands on stories offering specific facts regular news does not take time to tell the public. The program often has the answer to news items the public is not aware needed coverage. This type of program kind of steps into the place of print journalism. A way to keep current with almost any variety of news. Another of my favorite news sources is PBS News Hour. They also do person to person interviews and panel discussions, that pinpoint the different sides of politics and news items. |
| Google: I should not even be here. Getting ready for low temperatures. Spent the day bringing in houseplants from the balcony. Too tired to move and might say anything, but will attempt to stay accurate as I know the information to be. About Google: I have always used Google since college because they will answer any questions and get information about anything without prejudice. And, upon researching their information, I find them to be accurate. Also, I switched my phone to Goggle some time ago, and they are giving me the best service I have ever experienced since I received a cell phone. I never researched any background information about the company. I guess I just trust the service I have received over the years and appreciate Google. |
