I go to market on Saturdays, and usually stop in M-F at the Senior Center. Wednesdays is 10% off at the grocery store. I tend to do my washing every two weeks on a Sunday or Monday. I watch Thai programs on youtube. I write something every day. When I had a garden I would be working in it until I couldn't see.
My life is "smaller" these days. I consider getting out of bed "productive".
I was just surprised by the pick because he retired from neurosurgery practice over a decade ago and has, in the time since, arguably built a higher national profile for himself in politics/public service. It would be like wanting to meet Mark Wahlberg not because he's a famous actor, but because of his prior musical accomplishments with The Funky Bunch. It's a totally valid choice, just an unexpected one.
Humm, why not? A highly respect neurosurgeon and he has a fascinating life history. No one could ever guess that he would have made it to become a doctor let along a neurosurgeon.
My first visit to your blog! Thank you for the trinket.
I imagine the frying pan was used for all kinds of things, back in the day.
I actually won a skillet toss competition at a county fair!
I have to agree with you. Home is my favorite place as well. However, I do like to travel on the occasion and get a change of scenery, but it's always the best to walk back through the home doors!
That's unacceptable regarding the parking situation. To be told you're allowed to park someplace, and then not allowed to park there due to a requirement that clearly should have been mentioned in the letter. I usually use the valet parking option for my eye appointments, as it's free and reasonably convenient.
I used to go horse riding as a teenager. We lived in the city and I begged my parents to let me have a horse, and I swore I would look after it. Fortunately, they said no because that would never have worked out I used to love horses though and I spent all my spare time at the stables, which were a half-hour bike ride away. But it's different when you chose to help muck out the stables when it suits you compared to having to do it because it's your horse, in the freezing cold or when it's raining.
I haven't been near a horse since then. I would probably be a bit scared of them now.
Great advice! As I reach the "mid-career" level of my life, I find myself thinking more and more about retirement and what planning I should do now to make sure that those later years are properly financed. But I'm honestly surprised at how many people my age don't have ANY retirement savings. Or much savings. Many of them are the result extenuating life circumstances (which no one can control), but there are quite a few who just "haven't gotten around to thinking about it" yet. That terrifies me because, as you said, starting earlier in life is the best way to ensure later success!
I am not ready for December 1. It opens the doors to Christmas, which I am also not ready for. It came too fast this year. I tell people that the second hand is moving faster then in the past; It feels it.
So, do I start wearing my Christmas tees and put up decoration now. I barely got through the BIRD and before that it was Halloween.
I do enjoy the lights but even lights are all around these days so the joy of it isn't as it use to be for me. I recently put up lights up in my patio, they look like little hot air balloons and they are so pretty at night. I like sitting in the dark just with those lights glowing.
I wonder want it is about lights that make us happy. As a kid, looking up at the stars at night was so much fun. We would sleep outside in the summer and just put ourselves asleep by starring at those stars.
Star light, star shinning so bright
Who is blessed by you tonight
Will you still shine when I am 29
Or will you burn out...
