The simplicity of my day to day. |
This is where I write my thoughts, feelings and my daily trials, tribulations and happy things

Use these words in your entry: time, tears, and smile. Where did the time go?” Mary wondered, as they discussed their up-and-coming Diamond wedding anniversary. John shrugged, “God knows, love. Let’s not make a fuss eh?” “The kids want to do something. I don’t think we can get away with it.” Mary smiled. “Those kids are in their fifties.” “But they’re still my babies,” Mary blinked back tears. “Perhaps we can escape. Book a flight to Bali or somewhere far away.” “That would be nice, just the two of us. Like it was at the beginning.” “We don’t need a party do we?” They held each other’s hands, closed their eyes and kissed. |
Prompt: “Bring down the curtain—the farce is over.” The last words of French philosopher and comic, Francois Rabelais What do you think of life? Is it really a farce? Yes, I really think the whole things a joke. Honestly, we spend all our lives trying to improve ourselves, learning new things and better ways of doing things and then it’s over. All that knowledge, the wisdom, it’s simply gone with you when you’re dead. Unless of course you’ve written everything down for others to learn. Life is great, I wouldn’t be dead for quids—that’s a saying here in Australia— but it’s not to be taken too seriously because in the end nothing really matters. |
Prompt: “Scars have the strange power to remind us that our past is real.”--Cormac McCarthy What do your scars say about your past? I keep adding to my collection of scars and it’s not intentional. What they say to me is I’ve lived a long time! My oldest scar is between my little and next toe. It reminds me of the time I was about five years old and stuck a garden fork through my foot. I had a lift to the docs on the crossbar of dad’s bike. Can I count stretch marks as scars? My twin pregnancy scarred me for life. Long scars down the outside of both legs reminds me of my gluteal repairs. These remind me of the surgeon telling me I was too old for the ops and to get a mobility scooter. Now I’m walking, almost normally. Scars tell of a life lived. |
Prompt: Have fun with these random words-- switch, x-ray, install, series, reconcile, dead, maze, cupboard and bother. I’ve visited the X-ray department quite a few times this year. A series of X-rays have shown a pneumothorax in my right lung. I’m having to reconcile myself to not flying until it resolves itself. So I needed to switch my already booked airline tickets to sometime in the future. It’s been such a bother, we were looking forward to visiting our son in another state. So the suitcase has been put back in the cupboard for a future trip. I would hate to go in a maze, I have a fear of getting lost and no one finding me until someone came across my long dead body years later. Then they would probably install a plaque in my memory in the centre of the maze as a reminder of the danger. |
Prompt: On this day in 1976 The first episode of The Muppet Show, which was cocreated by Jim Henson, aired, and the TV series became hugely popular, known for a cast of puppet characters that included Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. Did you see it when it originally aired? Which character is your favorite? What fun facts do you know about the Muppets? We used to watch this show as a family. Everyone loved it, we adults just as much, or perhaps more than the children. Kermit was my favourite character and I enjoyed the relationship between him and Miss Piggy. Fun fact: Miss Piggy’s real name is Piggy Lee. She was named after singer Peggy Lee. |
On this day in 1998 The American search engine company Google Inc. was formally established as founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page filed incorporation papers. Do you feel Google is a reliable search engine? Did you know Google discriminates against some content, and in favor of other content, and maintains guides and tools that favor some websites in search results ranking? It’s amazing to me Google has been with us for so long. The word Google is now a verb (to Google) and a proper noun, how easily it has slipped into every day language usage. I think though its time and place in the world has slipped somewhat. Chatgpt and other AI platforms are increasingly taking the place of Google. I’d much prefer to ask Chat a question and I’ll get a more definitive reply. When one asks Google anything, one knows the top or first answer is the ad that’s paid Google for the top spot. Google your days might be numbered. |
I've been ill recently. Write about your favorite hot or cold beverage when you're feeling ill. Sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather. I too was in hospital recently and whilst I was tied to a hospital bed I craved tea on tap. The cups of tea, when they did make an appearance, were small and lukewarm. I love a large cup of very hot tea. My favourite is English Breakfast followed closely by Yorkshire Tea. I was very lucky though, my beautiful granddaughter brought me a large breakfast cup to use whilst I was there and when I could get out of bed I’d wander down the hallway and make myself my favourite brew. When I have a cold though nothing beats lemon and honey with perhaps just a nip of whiskey. Get well soon. |
