A poem a day keeps the cobwebs off my keyboard.

A place for the poetry that I will need to write now that I made a special book for it.

Stealth, that’s what is required.
I see you reconnoiter
when you think I’ve retired,

plotting your attack while we sleep.
Tho’ all the lights are turned out
in your keen eyesight you keep,

ev’ry branch that holds a bauble,
each ball and angel and santa,
hanging openly. It’s quite lawful -

a cat has a right to swat at
any free-swinging ornaments
and not get caught at it.

To a cat, the tree’s a vexation,
so many eye-catching
prey-like temptations!

Stella the star is what we named you,
and so belong at the top of the tree.
Who can blame you?

December - prompt - Question: "What does you're animal do for christmas, when family comes to your house?"
I'm sure there are many stories but write a poem about it.
