Welcome to my blog: I intend to share heartfelt writing about anything that comes to mind. |
Take UP Your Cross October 3rd, 2025 Scripture writing prompt: Hebrews 10:1 - For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. The shadow is never as good as the real thing. It can cast an image, but it can't be the object it is shadowing. So, the Israelites offering sacrifices of dead animals to God was only a shadow or image of the messiah. Prayer prompt: Pray for those who will experience the tribulation. Blog prompt: How has your life changed since you met Jesus? I love reading the Bible. I don't hate it. I enjoy talking about my faith. I have learned to exercise better self-control. I don't curse as much as I used to. I try to do what is right. We are looking for reviewers and bloggers who would like to earn some gift points. Answer the prompt and post your entry in the forum. Post a review with your blog entry for even more credit. Use this link to get to the forum to post your blog entry.
Prompt for October 3rd, 2025 There appeared to be an uproar and a storm brewing over planet WriterRick, I sent a cadet to investigate for me, and this is the report he brought back.
Read, review and write about uncontrolled wrath. I understand why the Bible says the wrath of man does not bring forth the righteousness of God. (James 1:20) Self-control is also a gift of the Spirit. It glorifies God when we can control our tempers. Uncontrolled wrath however only produces evil. It kills, humiliates, steals peace, destroys relationships, etc.. It also hurts the person holding onto it.
October 3rd, 2025 Prompt: Have fun with these words in your entry today-- accident. native, risk, draw, degree, tail, teal, cultural, end and encourage. Sometimes, I like these kinds of prompts and sometimes I don't. Today, I don't, but then again, I'm not feeling well. Although, these sound like they would make a great western short story. Billy found himself in the middle of a fight by accident. He had known it was a risk, but he wanted to stand up for the lady who was native to the area. To a degree, he knew he might get into some trouble but never expected it to turn into a gun fight in the middle of the street. The strange man had ripped open the front of the lady's teal dress and was mocking her. It had been his cultural upbringing that a man should stand up for a woman and that is exactly what he did when he saw her being mistreated like that. Watching the stranger with a trained eye, he tried to encourage himself by telling himself that he was doing the right thing even if his life would come to an end. In a split second, he made his draw and fired. The other man's gun flung from his hand as the bullet had hit its target. No one would die today. He could breathe a sigh of relief. The lady thanked him and went on her way. As he mounted and road away, his horse flicked his tail in approval. October 4th, 2025 Prompt: "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go" - Dr. Seuss. "From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere." - Dr. Suess Did you read Dr. Suess as a child? Read his books to your children? What do you think of these quotes by Dr. Suess, is he right or simply writing sentences that rhyme for children? I think it is a fun way to express truths and get kids to remember them. I know I remember things better when they are enjoyable. I have always like Dr. Suess and his quotes. I think we have gotten ridiculous in our society when we have good classic reading material banned over stupid reasons. October 3rd, 2025 "After the keen still days of September, the October sun filled the world with mellow warmth...The maple tree in front of the doorstep burned like a gigantic red torch. The oaks along the roadway glowed yellow and bronze. The fields stretched like a carpet of jewels, emerald and topaz and garnet. Everywhere she walked the color shouted and sang around her." —Elizabeth George Speare, The Witch of Blackbird Pond Prompt: Describe what you see surrounding you as Ms.Speare did. Honestly, because I don't feel well today, I felt impatient. However, if I take the time to take it in and appreciate it, I can relate to it. It's the kind of scenery I like to be in. It sounds beautiful. October 4th, 2025 "Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real" - Nora Ephron. Your thoughts? I agree. When I was a teenager, I had a crazy dynamic in my home life. Reading was an escape from my reality. It was a way for me to relax in stressful environments.
Prompt #3: Choose a job you have (or have held in the past) and discuss the skills required. Explain why each skill is needed and how they can be learned. Filling out a job application has never been a favorite thing of mine to do. I don't find it fun at all. This prompt sounds like something you would include in an application. Blah! Just saying. I'm about to rant. LOL I have mostly been in customer service, retail, or fast food for a majority of my life. Even in fast food, there are skills that have to be learned. For example, if you want to be bilingual, you have to find a way to learn the 2nd language. You can use a language app, do research, and have an acquaintance teach it to you. It doesn't matter how you learn it, just that you can demonstrate that you can do it. A lot of skills are like that. However, also in fast food, to advance to a management or leadership position, you must take and pass a food safety course. Some places offer a certificate to show you have taken the course. Then there are some skills that are taught by computer or watching videos. Some are interactive and some are not. I have had many of these during my time in the professional world. I don't think there is any shame in working in fast food or janitorial work or some other less paying and less than desirable jobs. Some people look down on others because they think they are lower class. You know what? At least they are trying, and they are working for a living the best way they know how. It bugs me when people mistreat others just because they aren't highly educated or making a lot of money. ![]() |
Are you in the need for prayer? Let us know here and we will pray for you.
Take UP Your Cross Scripture writing prompt: Hebrews 4:3 - For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. It was finished at the cross. I believe in Jesus and that he lived as a man and died and rose again from the dead. He now resides at the right hand of the Father who is in Heaven. He will return one day soon to take me and the other people who have believed in him to Heaven. He has prepared a place for us. Prayer prompt: Pray for your government. Blog prompt: Write about Christian Poetry. My dad used to collect Christian Poems. He would read them and use them in his sermons. He also tried to sing some of them to his own tune. I also loved the poetry, but he could get a little annoying with it. He would sit and copy poems to a spiral notebook. I had to go through pages and pages of poetry he had collected and get rid of duplicates and cut down some of the poems he collected. If you could have only seen the notebooks and papers he collected over the years, you'd understand what I am talking about. Needless to say, it took me several days to go through them all. A wild centaur, unicorn and troll were seen on planet innerlight. After observing some sparkling objects being thrown into the air, I came across this item discarded in a backyard.
Read, review and write about imagination. I would say we have to have an imagination of some sort to be active on WDC. I was accused of having a wild one when I was a child and I have always wanted to be a writer. Next step is to get published.
On this day in 1950 Charles M. Schultz's “Peanuts” comic strip debuts in just seven US newspapers. (It would eventually run in more than 2,600.) The cartoonist almost named Charlie Brown's dog Sniffy—not Snoopy—but another comic dog had that name. Prompt: Who is your favorite character from the Peanut's comic strip? Do you still watch the seasonal half hour programs that were created about the Peanuts characters? My best friend's favorite cartoon character is Snoopy. My favorite character from Peanuts is Woodstock. She says that makes a perfect match for best friends because we each like the best friend of the character we each like. My goodness! That can get confusing. We still watch the episodes and read the comics occasionally. Prompt: Have you ever bought something because you felt sorry for it but secretly wanted it? Write about this in your Blog entry today. I can't really think of a time that I experienced this. However, I have gotten something for someone else because I felt sorry for them, but secretly had originally wanted the item myself. I don't like to put my value or worth into things and earthly possessions. When I pass away, those things aren't important. What is important is what I have done for others or how I have made them feel. What kind of legacy will I leave behind? Those are the kind of things that last.
Prompt #2: The World Economic Forum has found the average adult will outlive their savings by approximately a decade. What are your best tips for wise spending and saving? Well, they say hindsight is 20/20. I am starting to know why now that I am in my 40's. LOL If I could give advice to my younger self or to someone else today, I'd tell them to live on purpose and with a purpose. Live intentionally. Even if you have no idea what you want to do in life, pick something, and work toward a specific goal even if there are setbacks. If you don't have a focus, you will end up anywhere and everywhere but where you really want to be unless you get very lucky. My parents, being Christian, everything was if it's God's will. We will see. They didn't save money, but made sure to tithe before any bills got paid. Every time I tried something, they weren't very encouraging and the fact that I was a female didn't help. They expected me to marry a man and rely on the man for everything. I don't think they expected me to be nor did they know how to handle me being rather strong headed and independent. Having said this, I don't condemn them for their faith or even for tithing first, but God never said we couldn't make plans. We can't just rely on everyone else to ask us to do this or that or preach, ect... You have to be willing to move first and go get it sometimes. God helps those who help themselves. ![]() |
Take UP Your Cross Scripture writing prompt: Acts 21:25 - As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication. I believe these are the issues that the Jewish Christians felt were the most important issues in that time. They also agreed to simplify the requirements for the gentiles instead of holding them to everything the Jewish law required. This is the law of grace at work. Prayer prompt: Pray for people who have been affected by the recent public/church shootings in America recently. Blog prompt: Should a Christian read or write horror stories? Why or why not? I think this is a gray area. For me, I love a good mystery or sometimes even a horror story. However, God has not given us a spirit of fear. Anything meant to cause fear may be a questionable thing. Some may say that if it is questionable, it is better to be avoided. So, I'm not sure where I stand here. I have mixed feelings about it. And you may see from time to time a spooky story or poem in my portfolio. Then again, as a writer, I think it is good to try different forms of writing to gain experience and knowledge. Planet Lou-Here By His Grace has been having some reports of paranormal activity. I called a ghost hunter friend to go with me to investigate. Here's what we found.
Read, review and write about haunted buildings. I am intrigued and curios about haunted buildings and places. Although, a lot of Christians believe they are demons. Demons or not, I definitely believe they are real, and they are spirits.
What is your favorite Halloween memory? I don't have very many of them. However, I do have a few. Most are after adulthood. My parents were Christian and after I was about 5 years old, they decided participating in Halloween was a sin. My dad dressed up as a monster and we went to church, where they had a haunted house in the basement. I was about 3 years old then. He went around scaring the other kids, and I thought it was funny. He was more of a funny monster than a scary one, at least in my opinion. Maybe it's because I knew he was my Daddy. Prompt: "My work is the embodiment of dreams in one form or another." William Morris Write about this Quote in your Blog entry today. For someone who is focused on fulfilling their dreams, I can see how this statement would be true. Someone who lacks focus on the other hand, that may not be exactly true. Sometimes one works to just pay bills. Unfortuately, I was in that later category for a big part of my life. I wish I had known better.
Prompt #1: If you were an actor, do you think it'd be more interesting to be a "that guy" or "that girl" character actor (i.e., someone who audiences recognize from a bunch of different roles, but isn't famous enough to have many leading roles or to be a household name), or to be an actor that was really famous for one role years ago (e.g., Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Jennifer Grey as Baby from Dirty Dancing, etc.)? I think it would be better to keep it consistent and to have the smaller roles than to have only one big one. People tend to get hung-up on that one famous character. Whereas having multiple roles would strengthen and enhance your resume. ![]() |
