Welcome to my blog: I intend to share heartfelt writing about anything that comes to mind. |
| My heart is heavy with many thoughts in my head today. It's hard to put it all into words. I am saddened that someone's life can be cut short such as one was done so yesterday and then people are celebrating it. Rather you agree with someone or not, doesn't mean you should celebrate their death. Do you realize that Jesus himself does not rejoice at the destruction of the wicked? He doesn't take pleasure in it. There are so many emotions and angles from this that I am observing. Some people adored the man. Some hated him. Rather you supported Biden for president or Trump. We should not rejoice if either were to be assassinated. I get the impression that those who celebrated Charlie Kirk's killing would have been just as happy if not more if a president were killed instead. I find this disturbing. There is so much hate it seems on both sides. "Christians" and "non-Christians" alike are displaying hateful and hostile behavior. It's kind of maddening to see all of it. You are pressured to pick a side in certain circles. Then if you don't agree with the majority, you are the enemy. You are the aggressive person. This goes both ways. I have seen it from both sides, "the left and the right". By the way, if you are displaying the same behavior as the other side, how are you any better than they are? Just saying. This blows my mind that things have come to this. The line between good and evil is definitely becoming blurred. We are calling evil good and good evil. Rather I state my true opinion or not and I have chosen a side. That is not the point I am trying to make here. What happened to the days when we could disagree peacefully without it being the end of the world? Oh yeah! I think we might be witnessing the last days. Maybe it is the end of the world. It's just sad when violence is celebrated in general. |
Prompt 7. Sept 7. The last day of this blogging week. Thank you all! “The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.” – Bill Watterson I am assuming the key word here is "intelligent". LOL I think Mr. Watterson here is implying that if the life that does exist elsewhere is intelligent, they won't contact us. Hmm! Wait a minute! Is that an insult to us? I think it may be. Ouch! They say that the Voyager has made contact or is getting transmissions that they believe are messages from another life form. On YouTube there are a lot of videos about the alien spacecraft that is headed toward earth. It's quite the circus. Some people think it may be the Antichrist arriving. Others say it may be Jesus and his angels coming to get us for the rapture. Others believe it may be another life form whose territory we invaded, and they are coming as a threat. Who really knows? Personally, I believe God is still in control. Rather aliens are coming to attack us, the Antichrist makes his appearance, we are raptured, or whatever, I choose to trust in him. If I am going to trust in Jesus, then I am going to do it all the way. If you can't trust the God who created you, sent his son to die for you, and has promised to receive him unto himself, who can you trust? Either you trust him, or you don't. The choice is yours. If I can't trust him all the way, can I really trust him at all? These are just my thoughts and personal choices. And to me, this all makes sense. God is like an anchor. He keeps me steady and sane. When I can rely on nothing else, I believe I can rely on him. If he created everything, he is able to control it. He is able to fix whatever is wrong with it. He is a part of who I am. He created me and he is in me and my very being and breath is because of him. I don't believe this just because the Bible tells me so. I believe it because I have experienced him. I have seen angels. I have had them come to my rescue. I know that I know that I know that they are real. Word count: 404 |
Prompt 6. Sept 6. Look at the entries of this week by two members of this blogging group and do TWO reviews (more than 150 WORDS each, not characters). Post the reviews here Invalid Review Well, this prompt caught me a bit off guard. Didn't see that coming. And wouldn't you know I got started with my writing late today? This is also outside of my comfort zone. I consider blogs a bit more personal. I honestly prefer reviewing poetry. I share my dad's love of poetry. Although, dad never wrote it. He just collected it. I started out reviewing "\\ Exurgency // " My second review was of "FAITH BY THE ACRE" It is hard to review a blog because usually it is based on just a skim over a few entries, especially if it is a larger one. I kind of wish there were a way to review multiple individual entries too. Not all entries are the same. Each blogger expresses themselves differently. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/blog gives the definition of what a blog actually is. One thing to keep in mind is that a blog is usually not written in a formal style of writing. It is kind of anything goes. It is a personal expression of one's thoughts. Personally, my blog consists of a few different types of entries. I have my personal rants or journal-like entries. I have some set up like a newsfeed featuring different answers to different blog prompts along with other information. I actually like to blog. It just depends on how much time I have to spend doing it. Lately, I have not had the time I desire to have to dedicate to writing. I do what I can though because I enjoy it. Some seasons of life are just busier than others. word count:362 |
Prompt 5. Sept 5. Music Prompt with coffee. The video didn't work for me. If the video doesn’t work: Tommy Cash, Espresso Macchiato, Eurovision Song Contest for Estonia on YouTube. I usually do my writing in the evening. So, I took a look at everyone else's blog entry to get a feel for what the video was about. Thankfully, a few of the other blogs had the video in it and I watched it there. So, thank you to all who added the video to your blog. You helped a fellow blogger out. It was an interesting video. I am currently learning Spanish using the Duolingo App on my phone. That was a bit fun to hear the mixed language music video. I love the coffee bean balloons at the end. Nice touch. I usually don't listen to this type of music. I tend to favor gospel, country, eighties, instrumental, and classic. I guess I could be considered an eclectic type. I like a variety. I like to experience different types of music and experiences. Getting outside of your comfort zone is how you grow as a person. I tend to get out of my comfort zone a lot. Now let's talk about coffee. Coffee is a subject I can discuss. My favorite coffee is Dunkin's French Vanilla Iced Coffee with cream and Splenda. I usually drink the Folgers Original Blend brewed daily with a flavored cream. I try to be careful how much sugar I consume, but I am not hugely fond of the artificial sweeteners. I kind of wonder at times what is the worse of the 2 evils. Artificial sweeteners aren't good for you either. Neither is real sugar. I'm diabetic. So, what do you do? I try to limit both. Moderation I believe is the key in pretty much just about everything in life. I also really like frozen flavored coffee. There is something soothing about those frozen slushy drinks. I like the Slushes from Sonic too, like their cherry and strawberry slushes. Caramel is probably my favorite coffee flavor though. Yes, I like to drink my coffee hot too. I usually consume about 2 cups of coffee per day. Somedays, there is nothing like a good cup of coffee to start the day or to give you that extra boost of energy. I don't tend to like it really strong though. I assume I am a medium blend kind of woman. I like it enough to give a little kick but not so strong that it is thick and extremely bitter. I've heard some military people like it like that. Everyone to their own. Right? word count:440 |
Prompt 4. Sept 4. Quote: “Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese.” ― G.K. Chesterton. Make this quote the start of your blog today. I never thought about if poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese or not. However, as a poet myself, Isn't it kind of cheesy to write about cheese? Ha-ha, can't help my sense of humor. Well maybe I should throw one in here just for the pun, I mean fun of it. Poets Don't Want to Be Cheesy Not many poets write about cheese. Poets don't want to be cheesy you know. We aim for the reader to please With words that smoothly flow. However, there are many types of cheese From the opportunity we may seize. Musty and moldy is not a type desired A unique and savory flavor is required. Mild cheddar or Colby is what I prefer Makes a great snack or adds flavor to any meal. To which cheese do you like to refer? Who knew cheese could be such a big deal? Well, that was fun. What do you think of my cheesy poem? I am trying to make this blog entry consist of a certain number of words. So, rattling on I must continue. My family uses around 2 pounds of shredded cheese a month. We usually get 32 to 48 slices of sandwich cheese. And we will also consume a couple of blocks of cheese too. This family likes their cheese. I do too but it's not good for my cholesterol. Scrambled eggs with cheese on biscuits makes a yummy breakfast. Add a little sprinkle of shredded cheese to almost anything. I even like it in my soup. Sliced cheese on crackers will sometimes make a not as healthy snack. Add some lunch meat too. Now you know one of my guilty pleasures. Did I mention I love cheese? Unfortunately, I didn't come to weigh over 200 pounds by just eating lettuce. Speaking of lettuce, does anyone else think it is getting expensive or is it just me? What do you think? Does it cost more to eat healthy or junk food, long run or short term either way? Who knows what food you can trust these days? Our world seems to have gone crazy. Word count: 381 |
Prompt 3. Sept 3. Pick and choose one Photo Prompt and blog away. Photo 4 ![]() I've been keeping a little secret since July 29th, 2025. I guess this is the perfect opportunity to spill the beans. I know that tattoos are a bit of a controversial topic in Christianity. I don't believe getting one is necessarily a sin or that getting one is going to send you straight to Hell. Having said this, I actually got my first tattoo. I have been debating within myself if I wanted to share this fact or not. First of all, in my defense, I prayed about it first. I believe you should pray about everything, as much as you can. I felt a peace about getting it. The tattoo is of 2 eagles circling each other in flight. It is on my right shoulder blade area. I am thinking I will add a scripture to it in the near future, but with it being my first, I didn't want to do too much all at once. I wanted to just get my feet wet. I want to add Exodus 19:4b ...I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. I'd actually like to get a second one on the back of my right forearm. Phil. 4:13, just the scripture reference to remind me I can do anything with God's help. I would consider getting more. No, I don't want to go overboard. I am just proceeding with purpose. There is a scripture that says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord." Leviticus 19:28 I believe this verse refers to pagan practices of the time. I also believe we need to be careful what we merge ourselves with. There are tattoos that I would not want to get as a Christian. Tattoo parlors in themselves are not always well lit and usually have dark themes. I think this is definitely something that requires wisdom and discretion. As a Christian sometimes we are walking a thin line between right and wrong. I believe intention is a huge part of rather something is sin or not. I believe we can get caught up on one side of the other in the Christianity pendulum. One side is constantly casting out demons from everything rather it's needed or not and walking on eggshells. The other side is too complacent and indifferent and appear to be more spiritually dead than alive. Personally, I am careful. I try to do what is right. I try to treat everyone with love and respect rather they deserve it or not. I am far from perfect, but that's why I need Jesus. I am usually a little more on the step back and observe side of things unless I need to step up and step in. I can be an extremely intense individual when the time calls for it and sometimes even when I shouldn't be. I guess balance is the key. You have to find some kind of balance in life. Prompt 2. Sept 2. The difference with last year’s celebrations is the implementation of Artificial Intelligence. AI/ChatGPT: A pest or a blessing for writers? Give us your thoughts. I think it can be both. As a tool in proofreading and researching topics, it can be an awesome benefit. However, if we rely on it too much, that could not be so great. We have to maintain the ability to think for ourselves and not rely too much on technology. We have to keep in mind that it is a tool and not God. I think that like with anything as long as we keep good boundaries, it can be a great help. For an example, I use Grammarly to assist in proofreading my work. I don't necessarily agree with all of the hints it gives, so I use what I feel I need and ignore the rest. AI or another human, I still use my own mind to make decisions. You can't really use a modern search engine like Google without getting a result from AI. I love that we can just type in a question and get the answer within seconds. However, how much of the information is reliable? Another thing we must be careful about is false information and fake news. I have learned that there were even things we were taught in our school textbooks as a child that was false information or propaganda. An example of this would be that eating carrots will help you see better in the dark. https://historyfacts.com/world-history/fact/the-myth-that-carrots-improve-your-e... I guess I do worry that some people may rely on it a little too heavily and allow the computer to take the place of God and let it control every aspect of our lives. In some ways, I think people already do. We must be careful how much of our self-control we give away to someone or something else. As a Generation Xer, I have had the unique position to watch technology advance and develop over the years. I've seen us go from typewriters to computers and printers, from rotary dial phones to cell phones, from 8-tracks and records to MP3 players and much more, from black and white TVs with antennas to digital streaming services, etc... It's been fascinating to experience. word count:378 |
Prompt 1. Sept 1. 25 years of Writing.com. Let’s celebrate! Guide us through your writing life at WdC. Ups, downs, hiatus? What happened with you being part of this wonderful community? I joined WDC December 9th, 2019 after my cousin and I reunited. We had lost contact due to some deaths in the family and family friction. I found her after doing some ancestry research on Facebook. It had been about (give or take) something like 20 years or more since we had last seen each other. Anyway, after we started chatting, she told me about the website. She was here first. I signed up and looked her up and here we are. Legendary❤️Mask I absolutely love it here and have from the beginning. I love all the activities and the community here. I have developed friendships and have learned so much. I have participated in blogging activities, contests, review groups and more. I have been given activities from other members such as "Take up Your Cross Blog Forum" My journey to a yellow case was exciting too. I had the privilege of going through the Rising Star program and was mentored by other writers who had been here longer. It was shortly after completing the program that I was fortunate enough to become a yellow case member. The last few years that I have been a member of WDC has been a bit of a whirlwind. My parents have passed away and I have experienced some very difficult moments. We had the pandemic, and I have had my share of health issues too. I have had to take a couple of temporary leaves on here where I wasn't active for a while as a result, but I don't desire to dwell on that. Word count:388 |
