That's definitely an event in history that will be remembered. While I am too young to have been there to experience it as you did, I have seen old news reels of that day. It is a part of the history of my state just as it is part of U.S. history, and as such has been added to the curriculum of some Texas History classes.
My mom was about eight at the time and her family lived just north of Dallas. She recalled how everyone was astonished, confused, and afraid after President JFK and Texas Gov. Connally had been shot. I imagine people in the area were on the verge of panic. His death was a tragedy for the entire country though.
