Today I went to the GPO (General Post Office) to collect three special cancelations - Civil Service Day, Earth Day and Panchayat Day.
I think I managed to get the correct cards correctly stamped and correctly mailed, in all the confusion of there being three!

Then I went to Divya's place. Met her new cat, Spice, for the first time. Spice let me pat her, and then hid in her toy tunnel and peeked out at me and we played peek-a-boo. Divya's earlier cat, Sugar, was having a nap. Spice is new and Sugar and Spice haven't yet started getting along. They are kept in different rooms and are being gradually introduced to each other.

Divya has embarked on a stray-animal project to get vets to come and examine the stray dogs / cats / other strays around on a regular basis. Please pray that this project takes off and does well!

I've been on WDC for 18 years now.

I remember the day I joined. I remember receiving my first review. The first review raid. Contests, activities, fun, friendship and lots of support.

So many, many lovely memories. This site is a community, an online home, a family ...

Prize Prompt
36 Lines // 245 Words // For "PromptMaster !Open in new Window.

One day, the Dust Bunnies had a meeting
"Achooo, to you" was their greeting.
They hopped, they jumped, they ran around
All over the open ground.

Then the Chief Bunny called out loud
"Gather round, all ye in the crowd!"
The humbler bunnies around him stood
In that clearing, deep in the wood.

"Now we come to what this meeting is for
To ensure Dust Bunnies rule forevermore!"
A big cheer went up "Hip Hip Hurray
Let us re-write history today!"

"So let me tell you our plot is sinister
We Dust Bunnies shall take over Easter!"
The gasps, the cries, the surprised screams!
This was beyond their wildest dreams!

"Take over Easter? How can we?
So mighty is the Easter Bunny!"
"Hush, that bunny depends on his legs
To go and hide those Easter Eggs."

"But we can hop, roll, jump so high
If needed we can even fly!
So we can do the job with great ease
Just put the eggs wherever we please!"

On Saturday, they met again
To carry out this master plan.
The eggs were ready, all festive
To take to where young children live.

But alas, their plans were pipped
Because the eggs could not be gripped!
No legs meant they could fly
"No hands, can't hold!" was the cry.

So now this poem turns all sunny
Coz Easter stays with the Easter Bunny.
And the Dust Bunnies watch and sigh
"We can't take over, but we did try!"

It's all one poem, not two parts or anything, I think! *Wink*
Plus I'm not sure if it really gives much insight, either!

He tramped across our screens
Took over our minds and hearts
He made us laugh, he made us cry
His messages pierced like darts.

He taught us empathy
He spoke what was true
He had the strength to smile
Even when feeling blue.

He turned the art of comedy
Into a precise science
And wove his magic
To give the world a conscience

He dictated greatness
By his very humility
He showed the downtrodden
Vistas of possibility

He was funny, he was charming
A schemer so innocent
But above all you'll agree
Charlie Chaplin was a gent.

I'm feeeling a bit innsecure
My proffreading ain't so good
I find I make morre typos
Than any writter shoud.

Now what shal I do
But to put it in rhyme
So thatt it ringgs troo
Each and evvery time

And as youu listen you marvel
At how tallentted I am
You don't think that the poemm
Is just a bit of a sham!

How can I iggnore the spelchek?
Don't I see the redd squiggles?
Yes, I do but thenn
My typing finnger wriggles.

So dear stranger just give me
Some licence, so poetic
And see how I turned
My mistakkes to a lyric!

I don't know
what lives
between the seconds.

A sigh?
A wink?

A gasp, a gesture?

An 'aha'
of hope or realisation?

A reason, an excuse
an idea, a dream
Everything - or nothing at all?

I don't know
what lives
between the seconds.
