"Nothing is ours. We own nothing. Everything in this house has to be in tip top shape. Or else we lose this house. Want to hear the rules?" Brandon asked with a huff.

"Certainly. At least we can hang pictures on the walls and have a fantastic garden, can't we?" Elsa replied.

"Yes we could do that by paying insurance money. Remember the owner lives here too. So we can't do that to the majority of the house or the lawn. We have to go through the owner first. Stickers are allowed. No nails allowed. Anything we do to the backyard and our rooms will be our responsibility to repair. So make the garden quite small if you want to keep it reasonable. Like I said: We own nothing. Nothing is ours."

"Yes, I realize that. We are just going to be renting a room and a storage for our stuff. The combination rent was quite cheap too. When is breakfast, lunch, and supper?"

"8 a.m., 1 p.m., and 7 p.m. are the times. We own none of the food that gets cooked and shared to us so we can't complain about portions. If we get a little bit and that's it that's what we get. If we get a lot that we can't eat it all then that's it too."

"How strict you make it sound. Are you sure the cheap rent is worth it?"

"I assure you it will be worth it. As a guest of honor I get discounts. We need to please the owner. Work for him under our new rules. We'll get minimum wage pay and insurance and vacation time. You can't beat that."

I assume we'll have to file for sick leave and maternity leave. My baby just won't settle down if we can't get that too."

"We got that. You'll have three months for when your baby comes and time to recover."

"What is the minimum wage to work here?"

"I don't know. But that is guaranteed."

Once upon a time, there was a veteran whose fur was white as snow with black spots on the ears and paws and a cottony tail. Scars dug deep into her face, arms, and back and she was proud to wear army outfits. One thing she liked to do was to hide Easter eggs all over the place for the children to find. Inside these eggs were candy and she loved doing it in the month of April. Some houses had fences to jump over and dogs to watch out for. Yet she braved them and was quick in delivering the Easter eggs.

"Jackie, it is April now. Are you going to start your Easter egg delivery even to unsuspecting houses?" Austin called out.

"Yes, I am. I'm heading there right now. Too bad I'll be competing with two dogs at my first choice," Jackie replied.

"Take care honey. I miss you bunny."

Jackie went out wearing her brand new military outfit and went over to the house she targeted first. The yard was large and plenty of space inside the fence. Then the two dogs came to her direction. She held the magical basket of Easter eggs tightly in her front paws. Somewhere she could hop over the fence and not get eaten. She patted one of her scars. It had been a long fight protecting a fox. The fox was in the protected zone. Humans could be quite insensitive sometimes. Now she was retired and didn't have to worry about those fights. She sneaked to the back and heard the dogs busy at the front. Now she could focus on finding a way in. The fence looked to be six feet high so she backed up and prepared for a big jump. One, two, and three she started hopping as fast as she could and leaped into the air. Success! She had gone over the fence and not crashed into it. Then she started hiding Easter eggs left and right. The children would be pleased to find them. She found there were plastic eggs also hidden around the backyard. Someone must be preparing. She hid them up and down and side by side before turning to face the front yard. The dogs were there. A fence separated the backyard and front yard at the side. Here comes trouble.

She leaped over the fence to the front yard and quickly started hiding the eggs. No eggs were discovered at the front yard. The dogs quickly came over to where she was. No time to be careful now that she had been discovered. Quickly she dashed back and forth hiding the eggs as best as she could. Then she leaped over the fence. The dogs couldn't follow. Glad she wasn't ripped apart, she headed to the next house where there was no fence or dogs around. Someone was walking an unusually large dog nearby, one that humans called a Saint Bernard. Sighing, she went to her business, keeping an eye on that dog. Just about when she put the last egg down, she heard a yell. Trouble again. The dog was headed straight toward her. She knew what she had to do. Lure the dog toward the owner. Quickly, she headed in the owner's direction. She couldn't let the dog spoil her eggs. The dog grew closer by the minute. No, she had to make it. Just as they were about to collide she dodged just in time for the dog to sink its teeth in grass and mud. Then the dog recovered and continued to chase her. She made it to the owner's side. Then she waited for the right moment to continue hopping. The dog didn't stand a chance, but now the owner was shooing her away.

Her journey continued much like this. She had to be clever enough to outsmart all dogs and cats. Yes, stray cats and outdoor cats alike. They tended to be lazier than the dogs and had the ability to climb. Still, her speed was no match for the cats and she was able to outrun them all. Hopping as fast as she could and thanks to the power of the magical basket. Wolves and foxes weren't a problem in the town except for a few times. Yet she made her target by visiting all the houses and farms she could and then went to sleep under a tree. Her journey was just the beginning of a long and tiring month of traveling from place to place hiding Easter eggs for children to find. Her wings made leaping possible over even the tallest fence.

Ashley got her homework done before Saturday came. Saturday and Sunday she was going to be qualified for the thing she looked forward to the most: Vampire Trials and exploring new lands. They were Vampire Trials for a reason: each one of them purely is a trial involving Vampire-element creatures. There were plenty of them to go around, numbering 2,000,000 species in existence. The Vampire-element was common but powerful, especially with buffs, and their weakness was Silver-element and Werewolf-element. There was only 1,000,000 species in existence of each of those elements and hard to come by. Some never gained those elements because they were so rare. Yet she knew it was possible to find one in her explorations and not just depend on the ones she had. Starfish had the element of Diamond, which had no weaknesses or strengths. It acted like normal in Pokemon but with an added boost of power and HP. She loved playing Pokemon too and they closely resembled the 32 elements. Yet this world was different. Food and resources was the elements. She had to memorize their strengths and weaknesses and she didn't have that all down. She was just beginning. But she knew the elements by heart. Spicy, Sweet, Dry, Sour, Bland, and Moist were the main food elements. Diamond, Silver, Gold, Bronze, Copper, and Obsidian were the main resource elements. The other elements were considered miscellaneous. She had every species. The challenge would be to gain 10,000,000 more species.

After eating breakfast, Sheila guided her to the part of the castle where she was going to go to a town already registered and waiting for her to pick a starting creature. She vowed to go from scratch and do the best she could from scratch. Even though she had plenty to raise as was. She expected needing to hatch them from an egg and hoped to get the best ones. Not often would a starter be an Omega level. Often they were from Follower level. Even so, they were always the better choice for their journey. The sweet starter called Common Cupcake Dragon was what she hoped to get.

She went to the lab where Ja'mour was waiting for her with his Spicy elemental starter Chili Wolf. Then she looked over to see what was available to her. All the starters were taken except one. An odd number, she noticed, as the others didn't give a hint that these eggs belonged to starters. She wondered what it could be. Then the Researcher Leader came out to greet her.

"Hello! I'm the Researcher Leader around this land. My name is Willy. I see you are late in coming over for the starters but I spared you a couple of eggs. These came from a friend who claimed they are very rare creatures indeed and won from an auction but he couldn't bond and hatch them. So, if you can bond and hatch these eggs, then the creatures inside them will be yours to keep. Good luck Ashley," Willy said and then stepped aside.

"Thank you," Ashley replied and wondered what kind of level these creatures were. Omega was the best, Alpha secondary, Beta tertiary, and follower the last. That much she knew. Often Alphas went to males and Betas went to females. So she wasn't getting the Common Cupcake Dragon and felt disappointed in that. Still, she had one. But planned on starting from scratch. Either way, she could get one somehow. Trading eggs was allowed. Trading creatures wasn't allowed. She picked up the eggs and started bonding with them. Soon they hatched and Werewolf element Tic' Vas Werewolves came to her. They looked at her strangely with wonder in their eyes. Then they turned toward Willy.

"Oh dear, these guys are bad news. You have to keep the bond up for them to listen to you at all situations. You can do it though. These guys are Advanced care, like the Elite creatures. You really have to work hard to train them well. And they're just in infant stage too, so cute and adorable. Why don't you and Ja'mour have a practice battle just so you can get to know them better?" Willy offered.

Ja'mour and Ashley nodded. She was starting out as a disadvantage. The more these werewolves grew to their adult size, the harder they would be to control. Unless she had enough ranks up her sleeve. Right now level 15 was where she needed to stop raising them before she gained her first rank. Beginner and Intermediate were easier until higher levels. Three levels affecting how well they would respond. She knew this from her studies. Ja'mour took out his Chili Wolf and she took out her new werewolves, named June and August. She felt those were fitting names. He moved first with Spicy Blast and she moved second with Werewolf Claw. They moved back and forth until his creature couldn't move again. She had won her first battle! He took the loss with gratitude.

"I won my first match but this second match yours were tougher. More health points and defense to take the attacks. Well, I better head to the first Vampire Trial. Wish me luck in getting Silver or Werewolf element. You got yours but be careful not to raise them too quickly. Hasta la vista," Ja'mour said and saluted.

"I'll make sure they are raised good and on their best behavior. I can promise you that," Ashley said.

The werewolves were already poking around at the others. She sighed. Already they were causing scares. This looked harder then she expected. They listened to her when she called them back and she noticed they were holding items. One had found a potion and the other had found a Rexpel. Rexpel was like a revival item, restoring their moves and health as well as magic points. MP for short. Each move consumed an amount of MP except if they were natural. The creatures could learn as many moves as they would like and use them. That's why they used a electronic tablet that enables them to know them all at any one time. Right now her werewolves knew just one move.

"Wonderful! Let me install the local Ambrosa encyclopedia app to your tablet. And I would like to exchange numbers as well to your cellphone. I will call you if there is something," Willy said.

Ashley felt delighted to get the encyclopedia app and checked it out. Right now, she could only see the werewolf at entry 400. Nothing else was present. It didn't record seen creatures. Only what she had or have. She thanked the professor and turned to leave. Ja'mour won his first battle and she had won her first battle. Things were off to a good start. He was right. Hers was more powerful because it was Super Rare. She decided to head onto Ambrosa Road to head to the next town: Futilie.
