Wonderful poem that links footprints to bits and pieces of our memories over the years.
As we get older, we do leave a mark behind - footprints if you will - and even as they fade away, they'll always linger and be a reminder of what we once were.

Fingers pick at the rock,
scratching away the lichen,
and negating the growth
of decades, the humble
expansion of creeping ages,
creation of soil, enabling
the greening of earth,
and life on the planet.
