Don't get me started on the difference between the lyricism of Ryan Tedder and that of Dan Reynolds Dan is a poet; I can point out at least one of ID's songs that has a perfectly symmetrical syllable count. Ryan leaves more up to the skill of his voice...
Thank you for that, Kiya - it's not many brave the wilds of my portfolio to discover my little 8-line poems, so it's wonderful to have some feedback on them. Much appreciated!
Wonderful poem that links footprints to bits and pieces of our memories over the years.
As we get older, we do leave a mark behind - footprints if you will - and even as they fade away, they'll always linger and be a reminder of what we once were.
Thanks for sharing this poignant piece with us, and keep on writing!
Iāve never heard a nightingale
at least, I wouldnāt know,
as their prevailing tale maintains
they sing on high not low
and being far beyond my sight
Iād have no clue indeed
whose song it be on that dark night,
which bird my ear doth feed.
Line count: 8
Rhymed abab (but see Note)
For Express It In Eight, 03.04.25
Prompt: āOde to a Nightingaleā by John Keats.
Note: I have cheated slightly on the rhyme scheme in the third line. The rhyme is there but itās internal instead of at the end.
