I have many but had to get rid of them due to the rv. Broke my heart. Kept ones signed by author..I have close to a 1000 on my kindle.

I think it's very special to have books on your shelves by people you know personally. My dad has several by friends and family members, and I'm carrying on his tradition

What kind of books are on your bookshelf? It will be a very lengthy answer. There are a lot of books, over 12K, on my bookshelf. They have a huge variety, too.
More than 50% are gifted books. That may be a book of Novels, poems, criticisms, or a project work.
Many authors or publishers sent newly published books to me as gratitude. Some of them are very close. But I can't remember all the faces. Many ask me " I can't go further. What should I do?"
I give them an appointment and suggest the way.
Before buying a book, I read a criticism of an eminent writer. If I am satisfied, only then do I buy that book, otherwise not. There are a lot of promising writers and critics are Kolkata nowadays. I don't read those books that can cause great violence and unrest in our society.
