After a harrowing plane ride-slash-car rental pickup (they tried to give me a car with no license plate), both of my instruments made it here in one piece. Or, I suppose that has to be two pieces. I got into the hotel by 2 pm, took a nap until 4:45 pm (15 minutes ago), and have been thinking about doing Galamian-style scales, which, as I understand it, means combining specified bowings with specified rhythmic "feet": anapest, spondee, and so on. That sort of stuff is on the agenda for the retreat, but, tonight MUST be devoted to W12, W11 and W8 with bowings and umbrella--Lora is running out of patience and so am I. Mmm-hmm.
I'm off to the Alabama Folk Retreat tomorrow, and I've got both my instruments packed in cases and ready to go. Stay tuned for activities and practices at the Alabama Folk Retreat in Navuoo, Alabama.
