Woohoo, my entry.
I have culled words left and right and am now able to enter:

Word count: 1985 (down from 3016!)

My first ever attempt at steampunk but thoroughly enjoyed it and no matter where this offering goes, I think I might write some more episodes.

NB: I've rated this 13+. I didn't think it needed higher but not sure where steampunk might draw its rating lines. Let me know if you think it needs changing.
