You might be surprised...the broken answers might be the puzzle pieces that make your story feel more realistic. Think in terms of life isn't perfect. Your main character might have been in a situation where she wasn't able to find love, be herself or she might have been jilted in the past, so she has a hard time trusting and compartmentalizes her life.
