Character names don't have to be complex. In fact, I find character names distracting when they're hard to spell or pronounce. Remember Hermione? I think nobody outside the UK knew how to pronounce her name (I used to think it was HER-mee-yone) and Rowling had to literally write the pronunciation unto the second or third book to resolve that.
