Don't sweat it. New activities are always a bit confusing at first.
A couple of things to ask yourselves, can more than 1 group do the same newbie? Can we do a task more than once to get more points--meaning pick 2 newbies or do 2 reviews on the same newbie? Granted, I don't want to turn this into the pain of Game of Thrones... And if one of us is too busy, can another person do 2 tasks to make up for it?
