I have a 500 ft driveway. The only van that comes up has smiles on the side. I bar my doors unless I'm using them to go in and out. I have two dogs who both take anything unusual as a reason to alert. Yep. rabbits, woodchucks, squirrels, deer, delivery trucks, the neighbors' dogs barking (25 acres away on north, south, east or west.) Anything can set them off. I once (sometime in the 1960's) had a man approach me and say, "Why don't you move your dog and come with me." My dog was a part German Shepard part Collie. I replied, "I'm not moving the dog and I'm not going anywhere with you." He looked at the dog and left. My first husband taught me to shoot and bought me my first gun. I have a permit to carry. A policeman once asked me if I would shoot anyone? I told him about a Davy Crockett movie I watched when I was young. Mrs. Crockett was holding a gun on a man who was approaching her. He said, "now lady you aren't really going to shoot me". Then she pulled the trigger which is just a little mechanism under the barrel of a gun. The policeman didn't ask me anymore questions. Really you can never know what you will do until the circumstances present themselves. Keep your children safe. Besides, apondia#1781748 |
