My first response to this question was 'well, of course' but then I thought about it. And if I'm honest I have never identified to anyone 'I am a writer'. I always say 'I write'.
I don't even say it to myself. Clearly I am a writer because I write, and I've even published two novels. But I don't identify as being one in the sense that it is my day job and my income (ha ha ha to that!).
And then there's weird feeling of thinking I don't have to identify I'm a writer in order to be one. Why should I have to for it to be true? So... it's complicated. Right up there with Imposter Syndrome, I suspect!
