Who are "others"? There is nothing more dangerous than being too well known and understood by just anyone, by those who may use that information to your detriment.

Best to be taken at your word, dispense with the idea that being "understood" will bring you more happiness or shower you in compassion. Keep "others" at an arm's length and only be truly known to those who matter.
