My very first real job was working as a pool attendant at one of the local municipal pools, a very nice relaxed summer job. We didn't have to work hard, got to use the pool in off hours, a state-run program even fed us lunch. The drawback was the low rate of pay, under three dollars per hour.
The next year I was eligible to work for the local school district, much harder work, but, much higher pay.
