I had actually thought about a line where I introduced some kind of... agent against David. Essentially Harding (or whoever) comes up with a way that dissolves the goo, and the military add it to the town water supply (or there's a vaccination etc). Some kind of counter.
The problem with this is two-fold. First, it undoes the vast majority of the canon (like, 80% of it). And second... how does 'alien blue goo body-hopping' really deliver something interesting?
