Endlessly but mostly subconsciously, I suppose. I do a lot by instinct, not really giving much thought to rules or precedent. A book of short stories by Roald Dahl (Someone Like You) is what inspired me to write down a story I'd had in my head for years, which prompted me to join this site to see what others thought of what I'd written. And the rest is history...
