going by "probability" alone, based on what little we know about the universe, the idea that we're the only intelligent life form in such an unimaginably large system (can any of us really "see" how large the universe is?) seems absolutely impossible for me. the probability of that being the case must be incredibly small.
as for "we haven't found evidence", it assumes humanity knows exactly where/when/how to look for evidence and what said evidence would look like, that we have all the necessary tools/knowledge to seek said evidence, that every single possible life form out there needs all the exact same things as earth's life to exist... all of these seem like wishful thinking to me, especially when considering that there's still some debate in regards to what's needed for life in earth.
