1. Willie Nelson - pretty much everything he has ever sang. I grew up on Willie Nelson and my parents will tell you that I was "singing along with Willie" before I was putting actual sentences together. His voice moves me. George Jones - "He Stopped Loving Her Today" - Such feeling in that song! It pulls at my heart and makes me cry every time! Tori Amos - such a haunting voice and a talented pianist! I think "Silent All These Years" was the hook, but she has so many songs that I really like. Leonard Cohen - mmmmmm... His voice is yummy (yeah, I just said that!). Of course, there's "Hallelujah" but there's also "Dance Me to the End of Love" and "Waiting for the Miracle" and so, so many others. Roy Orbison - "Crying," "Only the Lonely" Bob Dylan - just like Willie, I just love Dylan. His wordcraft, his voice, his talent with musical instruments. Man, if he were younger or I was older, I'd have been THAT fan. It's probably best that the timeline is the way it is. I can appreciate everything about his art without turning into psycho-fan! Here it would be great to note that these artists are members of the super band "The Traveling Wilburys" along with Tom Petty (who isn't that bad either), George Harrison, and Jeff Lynne - a band well worth checking out *Let me just add that I seem to have a liking for artists who can do more than just sing. Playing guitar, piano, bass - that's a plus. And those that also play the mouth harp, well, tingles I tell you, tingles! Okay. I'm going to stop here, because I doubt that Ms. Lilli intended this question to be turned into a blog prompt (or more). |
