For me, what clothes I wear is dictated by my religion. To those who want to know exactly what that my religion is, here is the link to my church's website. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/?lang=eng Because of the covenants (promises to Heavenly Father) I have made. All my clothing must be modest. That means it has to cover my entire shoulder, no plunging neck lines(i.e. you won't see me in anything that shows off any cleavage). My midriff(belly button) is always covered. Any dress, skirt or other garment I wear must be no more than one inch above the knee. This is because we believe in modesty and chastity in my religion. It is also because, as an adult Latter-Day Saint, I wear special undergarments that symbolize commitments to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Church guidelines stipulate we are supposed to keep these covered and out of public eye. Sorry to make things awkward. Wasn't sure how to answer this question. You can e-mail me about how wrong, oppressive or double standard this is. (But it's not double standard because the same rules apply to men women and children.) but to me this is an important part of my identity. Other than that I just wear what's comfortable for me. |
