I'm slowly working my way through Neal Stephenson's Termination Shock, which is a sci-fi (of sorts) novel about the effects of climate change in the not too distant future. So I'd be in hot and humid Texas among the shanty towns of people being forced to flee from rising sea levels in Florida and other coastal reaches around the Gulf.
(Alternatively, a second thread of the story involves people in North India heading for the Himalayas. I don't have the first clue what their part in the story is yet, but the mountains definitely sound perferable. )
