Currently reading Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors by James D. Hornfischer, so I suppose I'd be living through my last moments off the coast of Samar aboard one of five American destroyers desperately trying to keep a Japanese force of cruisers and battleships from laying waste to a group of escort carriers and the transports supporting the landings beyond. In the US Navy's 250-odd year history, this has to be their finest hour.
