the way i see it, breaking someone's trust is always final. the thing is, sometimes people damage our trust, which of course is not the same as breaking it, but we call it all the same, and that causes confusion
put it this way: if someone who makes a mistake apologizes and makes an effort, then they can repair the damage. if someone makes a mistake and not only refuses to admit/give empty apologies but also keeps repeating this pattern, there will be a point where the damage will be impossible to be fixed. that's when trust is broken, and there's no fixing anymore
