I also remember either an editor or an agent at a conference once stated that it is very common for prologues to get deleted because in the end they arenā€™t necessary to start the novel. However, for the first draft there is nothing wrong with writing a little extra.

Most people probably end up with shorter novels in edits, unlike me. lol
