Yes. And we are already seeing it. People have become too reliant on machines to do their thinking for them, and are starting to not "know" things. Even a simple programme like Grammarly to check grammar. I can tell when people use it, because it makes some very fundamental mistakes all the time. And I see it a lot in writers - "I don't need to know the rules of grammar because the computer will check them." I have the nickname of Stevenify (Steven-ih-fie) at the pub because I can pick a song by listening to it. And Iam more accurate than Shazam a lot of the time. They tend to ask me instead of looking at Google, because Google is now first-paged by AI-curated results. And where does AI get its answers? The only website that gives it unfettered access: reddit. Ever notice how many reddit results are also the top of Google? And that's why Google's AI says things like "women should smoke when pregnant" and "Hitler did nothing wrong" - because reddit is a cesspit. AI steals. AI is based on the lowest common denominator of the Internet. AI is making people devolve into gibbering idiots who know nothing. AI sucks. AI will cause the downfall of society. AI will make Idiocracy a documentary, not a sci-fi-fantasy-comedy. |
