Where I live schools give an after school free choice course specifically to teach Christianity. When I was younger and involved with school age children anything children attended scouts, or anything extracurricular, required parental permission slips. However, the church I attended had an after-school youth time which did not require permission slips. We provided board games, shuffleboard, and pool tables. At one time toward the closing of each afternoon session a devotional time with snacks was held. Adults from the church provided chaperon services. We got to know the children and some of the parents. The door was open for any age from about 5th grade and up. Basically, it was children stopping in who did not have a parent home from work yet. As far as I know most of the children also did not attend church or Sunday school at the church where we held this youth program. In a larger city, they would have been considered street kids. It is interesting now to look back at that time. . apondia#1781748 |
