Where we are now, we get quite a few. They are generally the adorable kind - little kids and their parents or older siblings taking the younger ones on the rounds. Quite a few years ago, we lived in a neighborhood where each year we handed out well over a thousand pieces and still didn't have enough. It was a lot of fun and a little wild. As a kid, we lived out in the country, so mom would drive us to friends and family to do trick or treating. Over the years as a child, I was: Those are at least my most memorable ones. The other years, we either didn't go for some reason or they weren't remarkable enough for me to recall. For quite a few years, my husband and I traded off who walked with the kids and who stayed to hand out candy and yes, we did dress up most years. I love their ideas. My husband's favorite (and pretty easy) costume is a U.S. Marshall. We have a metal badge and he wears his duster, cowboy boots and hat - pretty much his everyday stuff except for the badge. I tend to change a bit from year to year these days. I've been a jedi with the kids when they were younger. I've been a hockey player (don't make me drop these gloves!!). We have jerseys from our favorite team, so that was a nice warm outfit one very cold year. Mostly, I am a witch/sorceress. I have a walking stick that I wrapped white lights around, so it glows pretty cool and a cloak. This year, I'm actually going to be Professor Sprout from Harry Potter. I found a hat. Anyway, wow! Didn't intend this to be this long, but what can I say? Lilli ☕ No matter what you are doing, everyone have a very Happy Halloween tomorrow! |
