I don't really have an answer because I got my license early when I turned 16. My dad would not let me drive the family car because I was a female. The first car I drove was my first husbands. I never had an accident, and I still drive and renew my license every year. I think it depends on the person's ability to make good decisions. One day I was driving the family somewhere. At an unmarked crossroad a truck came out in front of us on a 4 way stop. I had to decide which way to go to avoid collision. I said out loud which way? My son leaned forward from the back seat said, "Right". I gunned the engine sent us right. We sailed over a ditch landed on the road and avoided a collision. It was an instantaneous decision. The next time we crossed that particular intersection stop signs had been installed as a 4 way stop. no one in the car saw the truck coming at us but me and my son. When I saw todays question I immediately though of aged drivers. There are as many of us on the road as teenagers. And not much other transportation available. because of the rural residents. apondia#1781748 |
