I think Nostrum's got it right: If you glue a blank band into a blank mask, and then copy someone without sealing the mask afterward, you can just keep adding faces but only the first mentalia will be copied into the band.
The glue that attaches a mind-band to a mask shouldn't stop the copying of imago into the mask, even if it is a second or subsequent imago that goes in to mix with imago already inside. For if the glue could stop subsequent imago, it ought to stop the first imago, and then you couldn't use a mask that has a mind-band in it to copy a first victim.
That being said, one could always pretend that there is some special property of the glue that allows a first copy but not a second or subsequent copying, but that is an ad hoc and arbitrary maneuver that would be a complication too far for the story.
