Don't apologise. The book club is open all the way until the end of October. I'm happy for you to post as and when you are able.
These three books are all good choices. 'The Secret Garden' was a favourite of my parents'. Both of them loved the film, and I remember Mum reading the book to me when I was really young. It brings back happy memories whenever I think of it.
I read the Anthony Doerr book a few years ago, and I wasn't as happy with it as I could have been. I agree that the pacing is a bit slow at times. There were parts of it that were heartbreaking and heart-mending, but overall, I didn't feel like I rated it as highly as I thought I would.
The Margaret Atwood, I haven't read. I was given the book a few years ago, but I've never quite got around to reading it. From your review, I might keep it on the backburner.
